A hurt that's never forgotten

OPINION: I felt my eyes misting up behind my sunglasses as I drove, and made a mental note to take a look at them before I walked into a room full of people. I wasn't sure I was prepared for the questions.

It had been a typically busy Monday, so while I'd stumbled across the odd reference of two to the day's significance, there had been no time to ponder their implications.

Only as I took the five-minute sunlit walk from the office to my car, en route to a choir rehearsal, did I have time to contemplate Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day. Hence the misty eyes.

I'd been aware of the day's existence, as a result of people raising it in the past – a day intended to allow those who have suffered such a loss to talk openly about it - but for some reason, I've never made a note of the date, so I was unaware, until I saw a mention on social media, that it fell on October 15. I won't forget now.
