ISLAMABAD – Petrol and diesel prices are expected to come down marginally for the second half of January 2024, mainly due to changes in global crude prices.

Pakistanis are seeking some sigh of relief from the economic front and consumers can expect some temporary relief in fuel prices starting January 16.

After turbulent times, Pakistan is witnessing tentative signs of activity picking up and external pressures easing and now Petrol prices in Pakistan are also set to undergo minimal changes.

In light of the above-mentioned factors, reports suggest that petrol prices in the country will experience cut of around Rs5-6 per litre.

As oil prices plunged in last week, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East could affect crude rates.

People in Pakistan, who have been struggling with inflation, are eagerly waiting for government’s decision, and hope for significant cut in prices to ease economic woes.

In December 2024, the federal government kept petrol and diesel prices unchanged.

The public, grappling with persistently high petrol and diesel prices in Pakistan, awaits the government’s decision with anticipation, hopeful for a substantial reduction to alleviate economic burdens.

The final decision will be made in a meeting led by interim prime minister Anwaar Kakar.

In first half of Jan 2024, Petrol is available at price of Rs267.34 while rate of diesel stands at Rs276.21.
