ISLAMABAD – As Pakistan is recovering from an economic meltdown, Pakistani media shares reports about delay in salaries of government employees.

It was reported that amid an extreme crunch of funds and reforms made by the authorities, the government is delaying salaries of January 2024 for all government employees, but the reports turned out to be dud as Finance Ministry turned down baseless news aired on a private TV channel.

Ministry of Finance clears the air about information shared by private news channel. It however mentioned a delay in release of funds for development projects and salaries of federal government employees.

As panic gripped public sector employees, a spokesperson of the Finance Ministry called it baseless and false news.

It advised media to approach Finance Division for clarification, saying no officials has been contacted for comment.

It also mentioned that Asian nation remains on track to meet all pledges under IMF SBA deal.

Ministry also said that the government released all funds for second quarter of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), and the transfer is underway.
