Craig Francis-Clark had been due to be sentenced for a series of thefts from shops in Norwich and Attleborough.

He had previously pleaded guilty to stealing cosmetics totalling £1,213 from Boots in Norwich on February 19 and beauty products worth £362 from another branch of the chemists chain the following day.

The 26-year-old, from Lavender Close in Attleborough, also admitted stealing 20 boxes of chocolates worth £100 from the QD store in Attleborough and tools valued at £205 from Homebase in Norwich.

His non-attendance at Norwich Magistrates’ Court saw Deputy District Judge Claire Furlong issue a warrant for him to be arrested and brought before the court without bail.

The court was told he had also failed to keep two appointments with the probation service to allow the compiling of a pre-sentence report.

Beauty items are a favourite target for shoplifters because of their small size but high value which makes them easy to steal and resell.
