New Delhi: Nepal batter Dipendra Singh Airee scripted cricket history on Saturday by becoming the first cricketer from the country to smash six sixes in an over in the T20 format. The hard-hitting right-handed batter achieved the momentous feat in the ongoing ACC Men’s Premier Cup T20 match against Qatar.

In the overall list of players, he became the third batter after India’s Yuvraj Singh and West Indies’ Kieron Pollard to slam six sixes in an over in T20Is. Notably, the Nepal batter had smashed six successive sixes in a game against Mongolia, although the feat came over two different overs at the Asian Games 2023. With this, he became the first player in world cricket to achieve this momentous feat.

Batting first, Nepal were off to a good start, with Aasif Sheikh and Kushal Malla contributing heavily before Airee walked out to unleash carnage. With his side aiming to accelerate the run rate, Airee seized the moment and smashed six magnificent sixes to push the opposition side against the wall. It was the last over of the innings when Airee trashed Kamran Khan for six consecutive sixes to bring up 36 runs for his side.
