New Delhi: They waited for this day and a jolly Thursday gave them the most precious gift they were searching for. The saying that try hard untill you succeed came true for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru as their terrible six-match losing streak finally ended on Thursday with a victory over hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

When it seemed that it was almost all over for the Bengaluru franchise, they bounced back in the showpiece event by conquering one of the most deadly sides in the 10-team event, showing their class to the best of their abilities. The boys in Bengaluru camp exhibited their authority and gave a loud and clear message to all that they still exist and the game is yet not over for them.

RCB silenced the power-hitters of the Hyderabad franchise and shut down all the trolls and critics after they registered their second win in the IPL 2024 after beating SRH by 35 runs in an all-round show. They became the only side in the event to beat the powerhouses in their den. In what can be affirmed as some light at the end of the tunnel for the Faf du Plessis-led side, the camp gained this much-needed victory which opens up their chances of sealing a playoff berth in the premier tournament.

A masterclass in batting by none other that run-machine Virat Kohli headlined the show for RCB along with a swift fifty by Rajat Patidar which completed their aggressive innings. Skipper Plessis fast knock and Cameron Green’s fruitful 37 clearly indicated that RCB were searching for the win.

This win has come as a a gift for the RCB side as it opens the doors for them to fight hard going forward and secure a place in the playoffs. If the Bengaluru franchise continue the winning way, they will end up securing 14 points in the table in the next fives games, that would put them in a place where they can seal a playoff berth. However unlikely it may seem, if other results also go their way, they will not have to go through the stern net run rate exercise and will qualify for the playoffs.

For RCB to qualify, the first scenario says that table-toppers Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad have to keep bagging wins to lend space for RCB to occupy the fourth spot. In this case, the top three will finish around 20, 22 points each and RCB would be be with 14 points while the others would be on 12 or below.

In the second case, if RCB slump to defeat once and bag only four victories with 12 points in their kitty, they can still qualify mathematical but it will bring the net run rate scenario into place making it quite tougher. In short, the team needs to continue winning and that too by big margins if they wish to qualify for the playoffs.
