There was a time in my childhood when America was led by the likes of Eisenhower and John Kennedy.

When the world had statesmen like De Gaulle and Olaf Palme; Nehru and Nkrumah. Leaders like Chancellor Schmidt and President Sukarno spoke words that got etched in our minds. They were the gods of the post-Second World War era who we desired to emulate.

Remember JFK’s “Ask not what your country can do for you” speech?

Now compare those words with the codswallop written by President Trump in his statement Tuesday morning. He was responding to a leaked report by the CIA directly implicating Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) in the gruesome murder of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

“Maybe he did and maybe he didn’t!”

The drivel in Donald Trump’s statement matches the words uttered to defend another man once accused of........
