Members of the Canaries' under-18 squad met pupils at Hethersett Woodside Primary and Nursery School on Monday as part of an educational experience designed to inspire young children to read.

"The children absolutely loved it," said class teacher and PE lead Ed Kearse.

"These players are positive role models for the pupils and every child got to hear a footballer read to them.

"It also helped us to discuss the importance of both physical and mental wellbeing."

As part of the event, the players also spoke to the pupils about their aspirations, as well as how they have shown respect, resilience and responsibility - the three school values - throughout their lives.

Every pupil - from two-year-olds in the nursery to children in year six - had the chance to ask the players questions and hear them read.

"They also played football with the children at break time," added Mr Kearse.

"The kids loved scoring goals against them - some said it was their best day at school."
