Craig Gordon reveals what Celtic must do to get back to their best during Dubai training trip

Craig Gordon insists Celtic are not going to Dubai to just lie in the sun but he admits a bit of solar power will be perfect to recharge the batteries.

The Hoops squad has had the week off but will meet up in the Middle East to get back to work to prepare for the second half of the season.

Gordon admitted the energy levels have been in the red zone following a brutal first half of the campaign and are in desperate need of a boost.

The keeper has played an incredible 42 matches - which is more games than he played in entire campaigns in half of his 14 seasons as a pro.

No wonder the No.1 is looking forward to a few weeks respite. The break is welcome but Gordon admitted the time away is also needed for boss Brendan Rodgers to hit the reset button and actually do some work on the training pitch rather than just performing running repairs in between games.

The Scotland star said: “I am 42 games into my season. I think Kieran Tierney has played the same amount as I have and when you add the internationals it is a lot of football.

“This trip will refresh everyone and recharge the batteries but the important thing is that it also allows the manager to do a bit of work on the training ground too and do a bit of coaching.
