City of Culture: Project proving Coventry is a Great Place

0 0 0

While Coventry is gearing up to show that it is ready to host a programme of new exciting cultural activity in 2021, the next three years is set to celebrate what a great place the city already is, with projects and events both entertaining and surprising in the Coventry Great Place project.

From 2018 to 2020 Coventry will be pulling out the stops, building a strong cultural and tourism infrastructure, revealing some hidden heritage sites, exploring the lives of a hundred people past and present; telling the story of Coventry as a place of work for thousands of people from all over the world.

Likeable Bikeable City

From 25th to 30th September the wonderful Festival of Imagineers brings artists, designers, architects and engineers together in Coventry in a free family friendly celebration of creative ingenuity.

Interweaving sonic art, engineering and cycling, the festival kicks off the Coventry Great Place programme with the start of a 5-year project, inspired by plans to develop a new heritage trail which will eventually link Charterhouse, London Road Cemetery and Fargo Village together.

Likeable Bikeable City, the brainchild of producer Bill Gee with international sonic bike artist Kaffe Matthews and creative engineer Nick Martin (creator of Imagineer’s stunning Godiva for London 2012 ), will start the creation process in a week-long residency during the festival this September.........
