Bell: Kenney says Alberta must act or face NEP-style storm

3 29 567

Jason Kenney, the United Conservative leader, thinks it’s time for Alberta to act and act big and act now.

Landlocked Alberta oil with no pipelines is being sold for peanuts. Actually, for less than peanuts. Less than bottled water, come to think of it.

Alberta loses billions as the province almost gives away its once golden goose because stateside they have us by the you-know-whats and it will only get worse unless there is action.

Oil companies can’t raise money.

They’re burning through cash because their costs are higher than the oil price they get. Cash and time eventually run out.

On this issue, Kenney has changed his mind. He’s a conservative who usually likes to keep his nose out of business.

But the situation is so bad Kenney believes the Alberta government must force a temporary 10% cut in oil production. Voluntary cuts will not do.

The oil price will likely go up.

Kenney says millions of barrels piling up in storage could be cut in half over several weeks.

We can’t wait for trains to haul oil a year from now. We can’t wait for a pipeline to the west coast happening God only knows........
