Sports betting has boomed since the Supreme Court deregulated sports gambling in the US in 2018. Sunday’s match could bring a record-breaking total handle of $1.3 billion, with almost half the US population now able to access legal in-state mobile betting. And the potential appearance of Taylor Swift at the game — to cheer on Kansas City Chiefs boyfriend Travis Kelce — could indirectly do to gambling what she’s done for concert venues and hotels, with websites already dangling strange bets on whether she’ll cry or not.
