Unai Emery has already dismissed speculation linking him with the manager’s job at Bayern Munich - and now comes the explanation why he will not turn his back on Aston Villa, whatever the enticements.

Media outlet Bild claim the German giants hold an interest in Emery, and Bayern legend Lothar Matthaus has backed a move for the Villa boss this summer.

Emery himself batted away the rumours in the wake of Villa’s 3-1 victory over Bournemouth on Sunday, declaring "I am focused here, 100 percent” before further debate was shut down.

And now a Spanish football expert has backed up that “100% focus” claim on social media. Luis Miguel Echegaray, a writer, analyst and podcast host for ESPN, says any interest in Emery’s services must be taken in context.

He adds: “UE’s arrival at #AVFC was far more than just managerial. He oversees almost every footballing facet, including potential targets, development. His team, including coaching staff, is hand picked.

“His right hand man and director of operations (Vidagany) and president of operations (Monchi) are specifically there for HIM. When he arrived, [Villa co-owner] Nassef Sawiris gave him the keys to the kingdom in addition to partnerships with V Sports.

“The Basque club where he has a majority stake, Real Unión, has a partnership with Villa, where there is a collaborative project including performance and data. His son is with the under-21s, so basically you can see just the uber strong relationship between Villa UE. It’s one of the strongest in Europe. What’s more, all of it is working. So as you can see, reports come and go, but as UE said, the focus is 100% with AVFC.”

That will come as music to the ears of Villa fans as their team closes in on a fourth-placed finish and Champions League football for next season. It is all a far cry from the mess Emery inherited on arriving at Villa only a year-and-a-half ago with the club languishing just above the relegation zone.

It is his performance at Villa that has caught the eye of Matthaus, who feels the Spaniard could be the ideal candidate to replace Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena.

He explained: ‘I would get Unai Emery from Aston Villa. He’s doing a great job there. He has a lot of experience – including internationally – and he has titles to his name with Sevilla, for example."
