Elon Musk reaches Tham Luang cave, brings ‘mini-sub’ for rescue bid

TECHNOLOGY Billionaire Elon Musk on Tuesday arrived on site at Tham Luang cave complex in Chiang Rai, Thailand where the Wild Boars soccer team has been stranded for weeks, bringing with him special equipment that could help with the rescue effort.

Over the weekend, Musk said he had deployed a team of engineers to build a “tiny, kid-size submarine” to help extract the 12 teenage boys and their coach from the deep flooded cave, Gizmodo reported.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO took to Instagram and Twitter to show that he had personally entered the cave system to deliver the equipment.

“Just returned from Cave 3,” Musk said on Twitter.

“Mini-sub is ready if needed. It is made of rocket parts & named Wild Boar after kids’ soccer team. Leaving here in case it may be useful in the future.”

Rescuers resumed preparations on Tuesday for a third rescue operation deep into the cave complex in northern Thailand to free four remaining boys and their soccer coach in a race against time and monsoon weather.
